WhatsApp is working on enhanced security mechanisms in a current test version of the messenger. The aim is to better protect users from unwanted data export and to restrict the integration of the meta AI system in group chats.
The new function allows users to specify whether content can be automatically saved or exported for individual chats. This is intended to prevent complete conversation histories from being passed on quickly and easily. However, the level of security remains limited - screenshots can still be taken.
In addition, the setting offers a way to protect against automatic interaction with the meta chatbot in groups for the first time. Complete deactivation of the AI remains impossible, but the new switch informs group members when AI access is prevented.
